THE KNOWLEDGE INSTITUTE · USER GUIDE

Make knowledge
your own.

Find a useful idea. Understand it. Test it. Put it to work.

1. Find your starting point

Open Library to browse 120 lessons and 40 original book summaries. Search by title, idea, author, or lesson text. Use Lessons or Books to narrow the results, choose a field, and sort by curriculum order, title, or reading time. Reset filters clears your search. Show more entries expands the list.

2. Follow a learning path

Learning paths organize the lessons by field. Choose a field to filter the library, then read in curriculum order or select the subject you need today. On a reading page, the contents links jump to sections, exercises, questions, and sources. Previous and next links help you continue.

3. Read, question, apply

Each entry introduces its subject, explains its central ideas, and offers a practical exercise. Use the optional reflection box to record how the idea applies to you. Read the linked sources for context and check their scope and dates. Book summaries are original introductions and commentary, not replacements for the books.

4. Check your understanding

Choose one answer for every question, then select Check answers. Read the explanations, including when you answered correctly. Use Try again to revisit the questions. These checks support learning; they are not professional certification or an accredited examination.

5. Save and return

Use Save + on a card or reading page. The Saved filter brings those entries together. Reading progress, quiz scores, and reflections are stored in this browser. Use the export control on Our standards to download a backup before clearing browser data or switching devices.

6. Optional learner accounts

Open My learning to register or sign in. Reading remains free without an account. Verify your email if prompted. After sign-in, choose whether to combine browser learning with account learning or use account learning alone. Cloud sync is optional. Sync now retries a save; pausing sync keeps subsequent changes local. Check the displayed status before closing the page or changing devices.

A learner account is separate from the staff sign-in used for management. Registering as a learner never grants publishing privileges.

7. Keep your learning private

On a shared computer, sign out when finished. Clearing browser data removes the local copy, not necessarily a cloud copy. Pause sync before clearing only this device. Contact the Institute owner to request deletion of your member account and associated cloud data. Authorized administrators may access cloud records for necessary support.

8. When something does not load

If live updates are unavailable, the published snapshot remains readable. Check your connection and reload. If an account save fails, retain your browser copy and retry Sync now. Export a backup before troubleshooting storage. For corrections, provide the entry title, the passage, a supporting source, and the proposed correction through The Lawfare Group contact page.
